

Chad R. Houseknecht, 46 of Binghamton, passed away unexpectedly from a brief illness on Friday, January 26. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Howard and Aileen Houseknecht and Robert and Kathryn Bryan. He is survived by his loving parents, Richard and Janice Houseknecht, brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Jill, and cherished niece and nephew, Ryan and Matthew. Also surviving are aunts and uncles Holly (Tony) Ragusa, Shirley Gardner and Diane (Ron) Oliver, several cousins, as well as special friends Dave, Dina, Kurt and Matt. At a very young age, Chad found his passion for golf and he excelled at it. He was a PGA pro for many years, enabling him to cross paths with people from all walks of life, making many friends along the way. Chad graduated from Chenango Forks in 1989 and The Golf Academy of the South in 1991. He later joined the Binghamton University golf team and received All-American Honorable Mention at the NCAAs at Torrey Pines. Chad was a caring, loving son. He was compassionate and willing to help anyone in need. A funeral mass will be offered on Friday, February 2 at 9:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Hillcrest. The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM.
