David W. Smith

David W. Smith, 74, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024 at home with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his father Garland Smith and son David “DW” Smith, Jr., and brother Robert Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Phyllis (McConegly) Smith; son Stephen (Alicia) Smith, daughter-in-law Christian Smith; grandsons Andrew, Camryn, Jaydon, Jaxon and Carter; great grandson Finnley; mother Rose Smith; brothers Raymond (Cynthia), Michael (Bonnie) and Timothy (Judy); sister Susanne (Al) Swackhammer; aunt Jeannie Krise; brother-in-law John (Dianne) McConegly; sister-in-law Olive (Gerald) Trask and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

David was a United States Army Veteran who served in Vietnam. He retired from the Johnson City Post Office as a letter carrier after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Prospect Terrace Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Endwell United Methodist Church. He loved his family and was always willing to help anyone.

The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 2-4pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Endwell United Methodist Church, 3301 Watson Blvd, Endwell on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 10am. The burial will follow at the Chenango Valley Cemetery.
