Frances (Donahue) Lindsey, born 8/16/35, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones in the early hours of February 10th, 2023 at the age of 87, following a brief illness and hospital stay.
Frances (Fran) Lindsey was known for her infectious smile, fierce determination, and absolute zest for life. She loved to travel, spending time with her (late) husband of 49 years, family, friends and strangers she turned into friends on numerous cruises and exploring foreign lands. She spent many years as a “snow bird” splitting her time between her Upstate New York and Florida homes until her husband’s passing in 2000. If you were lucky enough to know Fran, you were certain of three things: 1) she loved her family unconditionally and had the ability to make you feel like family within a matter of minutes. No matter what antics her children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren pulled, after use of their first middle and last name and quite possibly a threat with the paddle, they always knew they had a safe place to land without exception and without question. 2) Fran was one of the strongest women you ever met and absolutely fearless; she went on safari, kissed the Blarney Stone, and hiked waterfalls well past the time that most people are enjoying their retirement from the comfort of their rocking chairs. 3) Fran was a woman that other women aspire to be. In the field of sales, she dominated the profession, achieving top-level sales status and winning regional titles, and national recognition as “Sales Queen” during her 42 year career at Friendly Home Parties. She not only raised her own family, but gave many foster children a place to call home. She owned her own business, was an active member of Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, loved to swim, played a mean game of shuffleboard, loved to cook, could (and often did) feed an army without breaking a sweat, which, given her Irish heritage, almost always included potatoes. Fran was married and preceded in death by her husband Lloyd (Bud) Lindsey, her son Lloyd (Buddy) Lindsey II, (brothers); Howard; Edward; Frank; James; William; Donald; and Richard Donahue and (sisters); Alieph Brady; and Dana Kalmik. Fran leaves behind an enormous family that will miss her dearly and cherish her memory always; (brothers) Norman and Roger Donahue; (daughters) Barbara Bilyeu; Debbie Edwards; Sherry Lindsey; (sons) Scott Lindsey; and David (Mary) Lindsey. (Grandchildren) Christina (Rick) Finch; Gary (Sarah) Edwards; Nicole Adams; Phillip (Rachel) Lindsey; Adam (Tori) Afify; Shawna (Steve) Waller; Shaun Sample; Tamara (Tunde) Osibote; Nicholas (Morgan) Lindsey; Shannon Sample, Justin (Amanda) Lindsey, Lacee Lindsey, Taylor Lindsey, Brandee Lindsey, Mason Ward; and Delaney Ward; 39 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Family will receive friends on February 14th 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, 918 Upper Front Street, Binghamton NY with a funeral service to follow at 12:00PM and burial at Vestal Hills Cemetery immediately following. A funeral reception will take place following the burial in the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church reception hall to share memories and celebrate her life.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.WmRChase.com for the Lindsey family.
