

George Marcello Yezzi (Leonardo Giorgio Marcello Iezzi) “Pop’s” passed away peacefully November 5, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. George was born August 29, 1930 in Roccamontepiano, Italy to Antonio and Irene (Mancini) Iezzi. “Never was a life lived more richly nor love expressed more openly. He left us all a path to follow. Sing, dance, live, laugh, love.” – Russ Williams. He is predeceased by his daughter Beth Yezzi, his parents, sister Leondina and brothers Nicole, Mauro, and John Yezzi. George is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Nancy Yezzi, son Michael (Alecia) Yezzi and their children Andrew, Sara and Jenna Yezzi. Son, Paul (Sandy) Yezzi and their children JP, Marc Yezzi, Donovan, and Pvt. Nathan Bomysoad. Brother Peter (Hazel) Yezzi. The Scalone family and many nieces and nephews. George is a graduate of Binghamton North High; served in the United States Navy (Korean Conflict), earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Broome Tech (SUNY Broome), and retired from NYSEG after 32 years of service. In retirement, George started his 2nd career as a home builder a General Contractor (Yezzi Development and GMY Associates). He was an avid wine maker, bowler, and golfer founding the NYSE&G golf league and continuing to play until his death. George touched the lives of many people and always had a kind word to say, a good joke to tell, or a special song to sing. Special thanks to the staff at Dr. Ramanujan and Dr. Dimena’s offices, Hospice, and Southern Tier Family and Children’s (Vietta). George had many special and long time friends that he enjoyed spending time with.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at James V. DeMarco and Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St. from 2 to 6 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St Mary of the Assumption Church on Monday November 11, 2013 at 9:30 AM. Burial Services will follow at Hawleyton Cemetery, Saddlemire Rd., Town of Binghamton with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the AVRE (Blind Association) 174 Court Street, Binghamton, NY 13901, American Heart Association, or charity of your choice.
