

Gerald “Jerry” Ryan, 80 passed away peacefully on Friday, 3 January 2014 at home in Binghamton, N.Y. Jerry was born on 19 March 1933 in Binghamton to the late Clinton (Clint) & Lucy (Haydon) Ryan. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy daughter Vickiann Chard, son Marc Ryan; grandchildren Meghan & Garrett Ryan; his brother & sister-in law Robert “Bob” (Alma) Ryan, and several nieces & nephews. Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Binghamton North High School. He retired after 30-plus years of service from the Binghamton Psychiatric Center where he served in various positions, his last being a ward attendant. Jerry was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 1645 where he held various post positions. Jerry also was proud of his neighborhood where he served on the neighborhood watch program. The family would like to thank all his “neighborhood” friends and extended family members. The family would also like to send a very heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Louise Manor where Jerry would spend the days roaming the halls and extending greetings to all. St Louise Manor considered Jerry the “Mayor of the Hallways”. The family will receive visitors at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickerson, NY on Thursday, 9 January 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on 10 January 2014 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with a private burial at Vestal Hills cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Jerry Ryan.
