Joan G. Foster

Joan Gladys (Essler) Foster passed peacefully on September 10, 2014. Joan was born in Fort Plain, NY on March 23, 1933. She graduated from Fort Plain Central School and Albany Business College. Joan retired from UHS and was a Mary Kay Consultant for the Broome County area. Joan is a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Vestal, NY. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth Essler and Edna C. Waufle. Joan is survived by four sons, Roger (Cherigae), Steven (Denise), Christopher (Wendy) and Mark Foster. Joan has four grandchildren, Mark (Joanna) Foster, Melissa Foster, Jessica Foster and Teresa Foster, one great-grandchild, Brenna Foster and one expected great-grandchild. Friends may call on Friday, September 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson. Pastor Norma Malfatti from Christ the King Lutheran Church will conduct a prayer service immediately following the calling hours at 7 p.m. A short graveside service will be held at the Fort Plain Cemetery on Saturday, September 13 at 1 p.m. Donations can be made to Christ the King Church 499 Plaza Drive Vestal NY 13850.
