Joanne Cade

JoAnne Cade, 91, of Chenango Forks, passed away peacefully at Mercy House of the Southern Tier on February 22, 2026 and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. JoAnne was born on February 17, 1935 to Cecil “Jack” Hunsinger and the former Georganna Schooley.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Arthur Cade, their children Barbara Gallo, Beverly (Thomas) Mayes, Bonny Weiss, Brenda (Nick) Scarnato, Thomas Cade, Becky (Dennis) Swords, and Beth Cunningham (Don Blake). JoAnne is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 23 great-children in addition to her sister Karleen Allen, sister-in-law Helen Hunsinger, and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

JoAnne was a great cook and could whip up a delicious meal for 8 with whatever she had on hand. She was a great card player and all of her grandchildren have numerous stories of the card games grandma taught them and then proceeded to beat them playing. She had a wonderful group of friends who would come to play cards with her once a week when it became difficult for her to travel. JoAnne loved reading and she and Art enjoyed watching the NY Yankees.

Earlier in life she and Art enjoyed snowmobiling and were founding members of the Broken Ski Snowmobile Club. They also enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping with their 5th wheel for several years, and trips with their local Senior Citizens group.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the travel team from Guthrie Hospice Binghamton, Mercy House of the Southern Tier, Meals on Wheels, and the helping hands of North Fenton Methodist Church who delivered warm meals to JoAnne and Art.

The family will receive friends at North Fenton United Methodist Church, Rte 79, Chenango Forks on March 7, 2026 from 10:30 AM until the memorial service begins at noon.
