Joyce M. Thomas of Johnson City, loving mother and grandmother went to be with the Lord Monday, September 23, 2013 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased by her son, Victor Scarsella. She is survived by her children, Michelle Scarsella and David Ballman; Tony Scarsella; David Scarsella; grandchildren, Dio Arvanitis and Katerina Arvanitis; dear friend, Nancy Harrigan. Joyce was a nurse at UHS for 32 years. During that time she earned the nickname “Doc Thomas”. She gave exemplary care and compassion and in her time of need, received the same outstanding care from her two doctors John Leuenberger and Josh Steinberg who made her transition peaceful.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 5 – 7 PM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
