

Julia G. Deats (Leonard) 73, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. Judy was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Jay; her parents, Frederick & Jane Leonard; her brothers, Charles Leonard, William Leonard, and Ross Leonard, and her twin sister, Jane Swartwood. Judy is survived by her three sons Timothy & Paula Jo Deats of Murfreesboro, TN; Daniel & Jamie Deats of Troy, NY and William and Mary Deats of Macungie, PA; her six grandchildren, Killian & Molly, Ron & Brock, and Christopher & Katie; brothers & sisters, George & Dee Leonard, Maureen Rhodes, Mike & Cindy Leonard, and Rita & Tom Macko; her sister-in-law, Peggy Vavrina; 21 nieces & nephews; 19 great nieces & nephews; and many friends. Judy was a long time member of St Christopher's Church. Judy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and had dozens of friends from all of her walks in life. Judy especially enjoyed her winters in Florida and the many friends she made in Athens, GA. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday July 01, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1031 Chenango St. Binghamton. A private burial service will be held at a future date. The family will receive friends at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson on Monday, June 30, 2014, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
