

Mafalda L. Santoni (Torto), 89, passed away peacefully August 26, 2013 after a brief illness. Muff was born on September 5, 1923 in Binghamton, NY and is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Rocco Santoni; her children, Carol and Phil Murphy, Lou and Maureen Santoni, Kathy and John Perkins, all of Binghamton, NY; Linda and Bob Wasko, Endwell, NY. She is also survived by ten grandchildren who were the light and joy of her life, Lori (Brian) O’Connor, Daniel (Jennifer) Murphy, Katie Santoni, Sarah Carr, Maggie (Eamonn) Greeran, Stacy (Brian) Silsbee, Brian Perkins, Melissa Wasko, Matthew Wasko, and Steven Wasko; nine great grandchildren whom she adored, Casey and Duncan O’Connor, Patrick, Michael and Caroline Murphy, James Milliser, and Rocco, Giana, and Gabriella Silsbee; sisters, Irene Torto Schmand, Aruba; RoseMarie Torto, Binghamton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dominic and Ann Santoni, Mary Santoni Chesna, Helen Santoni Palmieri, Sam and Fran Santoni, Rita Torto, all of Binghamton; many nieces and nephews who all had a special place in Muff’s heart. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Rose (D’Angelo) Torto; sisters, Marietta Piscione, Amelia Wilcox, Viola Quaranta; brothers, Albert Torto and Alphonse Torto. Muff was one of the most kind, caring, and thoughtful people you could ever meet. She always had a kind word and a smile for everyone she knew. Her family and faith were her life. We would like to thank the staff at the Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care they gave to Muff.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive guests in the vestibule of the church Wednesday from 9 – 10 AM prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by the James V.
