Phyllis C. Smith, of Johnson City, NY, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the age of 83, with her family by her side. Born on January 1, 1943, Phyllis was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Smith, Sr., her son, David W. Smith, Jr., and her parents, Rex & Amy McConegly. She is survived by her son, Stephen Smith, and his wife, Alicia, daughter-in-law Christian Smith; her grandchildren, Andrew, Camryn, Jaydon, Jaxon, and Carter; her great-grandchildren, Finnley, David, and Grayson; sister, Olive Trask, and her husband, Gerald; brother, John McConegly, and his wife, Dianne; mother-in-law Rose Smith; brothers-in-law, Timothy (Judy), Michael (Bonnie), and Raymond (Cynthia); her sister-in-law, Susanne Swackhamer (Al) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime childhood friend, Todd "Billy" Stevenson.
Phyllis loved her family and enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren. Her family was her legacy, and she cared deeply and loved with all her heart. Her involvement in the community was evident through her membership with The Prospect Terrace Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the Endwell United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY, on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 11am to 12pm, with a Funeral Service to follow at 12pm. Burial will be in the Chenango Valley Cemetery.
