Vaughn M. Wells

In the early morning hours of February 9, 2026, Vaughn Marie Butler VanKuren Wells, age 87, of Clovis, NM, formerly Binghamton, NY, peacefully passed away. Vaughn was born on December 19, 1938, in Binghamton, NY, to Ethel Griswald Butler and Lawrence Butler. Vaughn enjoyed most of her life here in Binghamton, NY, before moving to Clovis, NM, in 2018. While Vaughn may have only been 4’10” tall, she had a feisty personality, a great little giggle and never ended a call or visit without saying “Love you bunches!”

Vaughn was blessed with three sons Gary, Gerald “Jerry” and Kris during her marriage to Melville “Gary” Van Kuren. In 1978, she remarried Dominick Wells.

Vaughn was predeceased by her husband, Dominick Wells of Binghamton, NY, in 1994; her parents; and her sisters: Alberta Borovski of Kirkwood, NY, Bonnie Burden of Oklahoma, and Patricia Ellenberger of Ohio.

Vaughn is survived by her sons: Gary (Karen) Van Kuren of Clovis, NM; Jerry Van Kuren of Balch Springs, TX; and Kris (Dawn) Van Kuren of Windsor, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Dion (Robert Coker) Van Kuren of Clovis, NM; Jesse (Lauren) Van Kuren of Anchorage, AK; and Brian, Sean, and Kyle Van Kuren of Dallas, TX. Her great-grandchildren, Thomas, Beau and Vivienne Van Kuren of Anchorage, AK, also survive her.

In addition, Vaughn is survived by her sister, Joyce (Albert) Wychules of Endicott, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Graveside Service for family members, and burial, will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY.
