Violet A. Phelps

Binghamton: Violet A. (Kellett) Phelps, of Binghamton, 100, died on December 4, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Fairview Nursing Home. Violet was born on September 10, 1912 in Deposit, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom, who died in 1972. Violet is survived by her daughter, Marilyn and Bob Ahearn of Binghamton; son, Richard and Kathleen Phelps, and their children, Tom and Mason Phelps all of Santa Maria, CA; brother-in-law, William Phelps of Hancock, NY; sister-in-law, Eleanor Kellett of Deposit, NY; also many nieces and nephews. A longtime member of the Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, where she was very active. Violet began her teaching career in 1930 in Deposit, then Hillcrest and finally Brookside Elementary School from which she retired in 1976. Then she did what she enjoyed the most - travel. She traveled the world. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, 44 Main St., Binghamton, NY 13905 with The Rev. David Drebert officiating. Burial will follow at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family and friends may stop at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Friday, December 14, 2012, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
