

William E. "Bill" Yager of Binghamton, passed away peacefully on December 20th at the age of 87. Bill was predeceased by his parents, William and Lula Yager; his first wife Shirley and his beloved second wife, Sandra. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary & Robert Kucharek, nephew Rob Kucharek (Elizabeth), great nephew Ryder. Also surviving are his step-children Janine, Ted, Janice and Jennifer, step-grandchildren Emily, Autumn, Brian, Mary Catherine, Sarah and Brandon.
Bill was a hardworking man who always had a joke to share. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Upon return from the service he was a plaster mason for many years with the Jones Brothers. He also managed the Thornton Gas Station on Court Street. He retired from his position of supervising janitor at Binghamton University – a job where he made many friends and did exemplary work. Following retirement you could see Bill bagging and delivering groceries to your car at the Giant Market on Robinson Street.
Bill was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Funeral services will be held at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Chenango Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your favorite charity.
