She graduated from Uniondale High School and went on to become a bank teller, a profession she held for nearly a decade. Arlene dedicated her life to raising her children Michelle (the late Alan) Marsh, Billy (Lori) Paduano, and Renee (Stephen) Laney seeing them on to happy marriages and productive careers. She was blessed with four grandchildren; Brendon Paduano, Nicole Paduano, Steven Laney, and Miranda Laney whom she dearly loved and of whom she was so proud.
For 23 loving years, Arlene was married to David McCarroll, until his passing in 2014.
She was the beloved sister to Judith (Eric) Feldmann.
Arlene was hardworking, to say the least. After retiring from banking, for over ten years, she assisted with seniors and elders at Brookhaven Senior Center. Arlene held such compassion and love for her work with the seniors. She was also passionate about arts and crafts, specifically the art of decoupage, an art form that involves gluing colored paper cutouts onto an object, along with other decorative elements like paint, gold leaf, or fabric. She would create intricate designs with such patience for even the tiniest of pieces. Also she loved her dogs, Charlie and Hobie, who responded to her with the affection she had for them.
Arlene leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories, held onto closely by her loved ones and her friends with whom she enjoyed frequent social gatherings.
Over the past six months she was cared for by the dedicated staff of Good Shepherd Hospice and her children who provided a time for visiting with friends and family.
