Wow . . . It didn't fully hit me until just now, seeing a picture of him as I remember him, my Uncle Dickie.  As I look at that image I'm instantly reminded of his laugh and his quick wit; a smart remark delivered with a wink and a devious smile (which is a family trait I like to think we will carry on for him).  I think my fondest memories of Uncle Dickie are the ones when we were all together, and I got to hear the hilarious stories about how he tortured my father when they were young, in the unique way only a brother can.  
His marriage to Aunt Paulette is one of the very few that I go back to in my mind when I wonder why people bother to get married at all anymore . . . their devotion to each other was unparalleled and inspiring.  
To Aunt Paulette, Clint, Dana, Dad, Aunt Trudy, and countless other people whose lives Uncle Dickie touched - my heart breaks for you.  I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend the services, but I was excited to hear how many people came to support you - and I wouldn't have imagined anything less for such an incredible family.  I hope someday you can find comfort in the fact that all the wonderful things about Uncle Dickie, his kindness, dedication to family, generosity, and fortitude, will be carried on in the lives of his children and grandchildren, for surely we could not have asked for a better example of what a father, grandfather, brother, or friend should be.

I already miss you so much dickie but happy you are. Not suffering anymore.  Thats what our faith teaches us, that there is no pain in heaven and i am positive thats where you are.   You are with robert, our parents, your friends, zack and hooch too.  
There was no better man than you and you showed your devotion each day.    You always paved the way for me so nothing would interfere or stress me out and i always felt safe, secure and loved.   I hope you felt that too even though i tried to show that in deed....not words.   
I wish i can still hear you snore, sneeze more than once, and even whistle.   How silly in the scheme of things it was for me to get annoyed hearing those noises......they were part of a wonderful man who was a great father devoted still to his grown children, a great granddad who enjoyed spoiling all his grandkids with chocolate chip pancakes and even spending dollar after dollar to win them a stuffed toy and often did.  You were a great brother to trudy and jack even though most of the time you would break their shoes as often a you can.   
I hope you saw the impact you had on people when you saw how many came to pay their respects to you.....they all had funny stories to tell which lightened up the saddness we all felt from losing you.   Im so sorry you had such a lousy year with the chemo side effects....it was not fair.....not to you.    You endured so much the last five years and were strong enough to deal with it all.   
I hope you are so happy in heaven that you dont even miss us....
I will always love you, think about you and if you dont mind talk to you when im stressed or scared.   I know you loved us all sometimes too much.     REST IN PEACE!    Love always, Paulette

It is with great heartbreak that we say goodbye to one of our dearest friends. "Dickie" was a kind & decent man who was devoted to his family & friends.
