Born on December 19, 1951, in Floral Park, New York, to her loving parents, Raymond and Alfreda Wojtusiak, Gerri lived a life defined by love, generosity, and deep devotion to her family. She made her home in Port Jefferson Station, where she created a place that was always warm, welcoming, and filled with laughter.
Gerri was the beloved wife of Daniel Harkins for 52 years. Together they built a beautiful life and raised four children. She was a devoted and loving mother to Dan (Jill), Ray (Kerri), Jeff (Maryann), and Lori, always putting her family first and loving them with her whole heart.
Her greatest joy was being a grandmother. Gerri was endlessly proud of her grandchildren Jeffrey(13 ) Daniel(13), Sophia (12), Valerie(11), Christopher( 11), Matthew(10 ), and Nora (10), and her step-grandchildren Sal(23) and John(21). They were the light of her life, her constant source of happiness, and the loves she held most dear. She cherished every moment spent with them and loved them fiercely and unconditionally.
Gerri had a gift for making people feel at home. She poured her heart into hosting Sunday dinners, where family gathered around her table to share stories, laughter, and her incredible cooking that became treasured memories. She also loved moments with friends over coffee and sweets, especially her favorite cookies, where conversations flowed easily and bonds grew deeper.
For 30 years, Gerri proudly served the Comsewogue School District, where she was admired not only for her dedication, but for her kindness, warmth, and genuine care for everyone she encountered. She left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working with her and will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Gerri’s love, laughter, and spirit will live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of those who loved her.
