Irene Mazzella, of Port Jefferson Station, NY, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on October 7, 1949, in Castleford, England, Irene was a beacon of love, kindness, and quiet strength to all who knew her.
A devoted and selfless mother, Irene is survived by her loving daughters Lisa Castleberry (Brian Jones) and Kristy Miller (Erick). She was the cherished grandmother of Raelyn Miller, Lillianna Miller, and Kaylee Jones—her greatest joys in life. Irene also leaves behind her beloved brothers, Theodore Stoma (Sandra), Henry Stoma (Judy), and Walter Stoma (Lisa), as well as her adored niece Savanah, with whom she shared many special moments and many more nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Irene lived a life centered on family. Her heart was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. She found joy in the simple pleasures—working, tending to her flowers, and watching Law & Order. Each Christmas, she created lasting memories by gifting matching pajamas to herself, her grandchildren, and Savanah, a tradition that reflected her warmth and love for togetherness.
She loved blueberry pancakes—always with extra blueberries—and was never without her favorite black coffee, cooled just right with three ice cubes. Irene adored her Old English Bulldog, Penny, and could often be found cheering at her granddaughter’s dance competitions, bursting with pride. Her Polish heritage was a meaningful part of her identity, and nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than dancing the Polka.
Irene will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering generosity, and the deep, genuine care she gave to everyone around her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 2–4 PM and 7–9 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes. A prayer service will take place at 7:30 PM. Cremation will be private.
She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.
