

Maurice A. Flannery, 86, of Hobe Sound, Florida, and Port Jefferson, New York, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024. Born in Queens and raised in Brooklyn, Maurice lived a full and rich life. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Jo-Ann, and a proud father to Tricia, Maureen, John, James, Michelle, Maurice Jr., and Jason.
Maurice's legacy is one of love, warmth, and an enduring commitment to his family. He was the cherished grandfather of twenty and the adored great-grandfather of six. His love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was immeasurable, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
A career that spanned an impressive 65 years in the insurance industry, Maurice touched the lives of countless colleagues and clients. Yet, it was his role as a father and grandfather that brought him the most joy. He was a devoted family man, always making time to bring people together, whether for holidays, special occasions, or simply because he loved having everyone over.
Maurice was known for his warmth and generosity. He had a rare ability to make everyone feel welcome and at home, no matter who they were. His spirit was infectious, and his presence in a room made everyone feel at ease. He loved life, traveling with loved ones, and of course, playing golf. Maurice also had a deep love for music and dancing, which kept him young at heart.
Christmas held a special place in Maurice's heart. He created a stunning village display that filled a seven-pane bow window, a tradition that delighted family and friends every year.
Maurice’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew him. He is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends who will forever remember his generosity, joy for life, and the way he made everyone feel special.
