Happy New Year! 2018 already. What a year 2017 was Gram. Another year has passed and another year starting off without you. 2017 had many highlights but looking for 2018 to bring more. 
Bree graduated nursing school. We all couldn't be more proud of her. We all really wished you could have been there to see it, she's worked so hard for this and it was great to see her accomplish this. She's going to be an amazing nurse Gram.
Nick and Cait are having another baby boy. We are all so excited! He is due May 11th, but maybe he will stay in for a little longer until the 26th to share the date with you. I hope you get to meet him before he is born, I heard thats what happens in up there. Make sure laxxie gives him a kiss or two as well please!! 
2018 already. A lot is happening this year. Kristen graduating college, the new baby being born, Zack and Rachel are getting married, which is going to be a hard day for us all. My mom got Kris, Bree and I this necklace with your handwriting on it that says "much love, grandma". It is so beautiful and so wonderful to have. It is a perfect necklace.

Dear Gram,
I miss you. I've started my sophomore year already!! Kristen is in her senior year...crazy. Bree is almost done with nursing school and Nick is being a great father. My mom and dad are doing well, they are empty nesters again! I have visited a couple of times since school started so its nice to be able to see them. I went to your grave for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was rainy but it was nice to talk to you. I put a rock on your grave because I saw a lot of other graves had it and found out later its a jewish thing but hey I'm keeping the demons away. 
Oh today is my 19th birthday. Which marks the 2nd birthday you are not here. I miss you so much, we all do. Yesterday was my birthday party, it was very fun and such good food. It is always great having the family over and being able to see them. Grandfather could not make it because he is away but he gave Aunt Beth money to get me mussels because he always get them for me. I was so happy to hear he wanted to get me them even though he couldn't make it. He is amazing. I can almost hear you singing happy birthday to me in your opera voice from heaven. I hope you and Laxxie have cake for me!! I love you so much and miss you like crazy. You are in every though and flower I see. You are apart of me more than I would have ever known.

Hey Gram,
Well yesterday was a tough day. We had a burial for you. I didn't know what to expect besides the tears. All family was there, always nice to see everybody but wish it was a better time. Although these times bring up the bad ones we had last year and everyday missing you, I am happy I can come talk to you whenever I want too. Your headstone is beautiful and I cannot wait to visit you. There is a bench and a big tree right next to it. We all miss you dearly Gram. You are in our thoughts every second. 
Liam James has turned one! And Kristen is 21!!!! I cannot believe its been a year for Liam, he is so big. Now Kristen being 21 is great too! Its about time she can have a drink legally! You would have loved Liam, he is such a cutie pie and makes everybody smile. He would've loved his Grammie too.

You and I are probably the only ones left that are aware of Pat's short lived (had to get married) career at Hall Publishing. I still remember her stories and daily activities she told me about every night she worked there, in 1962. She was just a little girl and I was a little guy and we both had wonderful dreams of our life together. Fortunately we fulfilled all of them. She never lost her bubbling personality, perk nor her beautiful.

I cannot believe you are gone. Let alone it has been a whole year. Time has gone by so fast and everyday is still not the same without you. This year has taught me so much that I never have realized before. You impacted so many people and I really have been able to see it. Through us grandkids, my mother, grandfather and everybody else. We have have a spark because of you. With everything I do you are always there and I always think "Grandma would love this". I hope I am making you proud because you mean the world to me gram. I want to thank you Grandma. Thank you for my mother. Throughout this year she has been the toughest. Always being there for everybody before making sure she was alright. No matter what, my mother is there. You would be so proud of her, stepping up with all of this and being so strong. You raised a wonderful daughter, who I am so proud to call my mother. Your husband is not so bad too! Grandfahah has been so strong during this too. But it does not surprise me because he is a strong man. Although we all have the tears, we still end up having a smile on our faces. You and Grandfather have been the best grandparents to grow up with. I worked with Pat in 1962 at Hall Publishing in NYC.  At that time, she was engaged, bubbling over with wedding plans. She stopped working a few months before Laura was born, and we kept in touch until about the time Greg was born and she move to Port Jeff.  After all these years, I still remember her sparkling personality and wonderful smile.  My sincerest sympathies.

Hey Gram,

It has been 9 months without you. Unreal. School is almost over, I'm in my last month! Lacrosse is going great and hopefully we make it far. I miss you gram. It hits me at different points more but overall it just stinks. There are so many events that you should be at and so many things you should be doing. Nothing is the same and nothing will be the same. I don't understand why you had to go. I visited Penelope the other day and it brought back so many memories. We would go there a lot. We would also step on the frogs and get wet from the water. Then look at the water and skip rocks. I wish we could still do that together.
Liam is crawling and is standing up. He is growing up so fast and is still the cutest boy ever. He makes us all happy and just brings light to everything. I wish you could be here to see him and watch him grow up but I know you are watching up there. 
We are getting a dog next month!!! Kris and I could not be more excited. This dog is my dog and its going to be a puppy. Of course no dog will ever replace Laxxie! Hey Gram,

It has been 8 months without you. I had my first college lacrosse game last Saturday. I hope you were able to watch! Grandfather, Tony, Barbara and Uncle Greg all surprised me and came to them game. It was so nice of them. We won and I played. Today I have a game and Zack and Rachel are going!! The season has going well and I'm excited for all of my games. Liam is the cutest boy ever. He is almost able to crawl and its the cutest thing. My dad has retired and started his new job! I'm so proud of him! My mom is getting my dad a dog as a present and we are so excited. I know its crazy! Kris and Bree are doing well. Kris is still killing it on the field and Bree is still killing it in school. Nick is the best dad. My mom and dad are doing well too. Both happy that they get to watch Kris and I play!
We are celebrating Grandfathers birthday on Saturday. He is too silly. He asked me if I was going to the party and I said what party and he said the one for your dad, I said, you mean your birthday party? And of course he laughed and said yes, no presents though. And of course I say, yes presents. I am so happy to go to school so close to home that I can see everybody and they can come watch me. I hope you can watch me too. We miss you so much Gram, you are always in my mind. Still crazy to think you are not here. Tell my Laxxie girl I said hello and I miss her so much. I hope you are having fun up there. Hey Gram,

It has been 7 months without you. I would never think that time would move so fast and that I would be without you. I have started my second semester of college and lacrosse season has begun. The weather has been bearable and today we got our first snow fall. It was a fun snow day. Grandfather is away on vacation right now and of course I'm jealous! I've always been jealous of you guys traveling because I would be stuck in school, in the cold, just wishing I could be somewhere warm. But then I reminded myself that I have to get through college and I will be traveling right along with you guys. That is still what I look forward to. The day I finally get to go back to Key West, Shawnee and any other place Grandfather has up his sleeve. Liam is almost 6 months old and its crazy how that time flew by. He keeps getting cuter and cuter everyday and keeps growing. Everybody else is doing well. Kristen started her junior lacrosse season and will probably start. Bree is loving nursing school. My parents are doing well too. I go home every Sunday to do laundry, get a home cooked meal, and just to see them. It brightens my day up and I know they appreciate it as well. My moms birthday is coming up soon!! I have a scrimmage that day so I'm lucky she is going to watch me play and I'm lucky to get to see her on her birthday.
Even though we are doing well, we still miss you more and more everyday. No days are the same without you and no days will be the same. Looking at past pictures just reminds me of so many memories that we have shared together and I am so lucky to have had so many. Memories are what keep me going when I miss you, just all of our great times together. They will always be cherished. I miss you a lot grams and I know you are looking down, watching us. Have a good Super Bowl but watch out Laxxie will eat the food!! Tell my girl I said hello and that I love and miss her a ton too! Life is not the same without you guys. Hey Gram,

Its been 6 whole months without you. I'm in shock that it has been that long. It seems like yesterday you were here and we were sharing our wonderful memories together. I miss you soooo much gram!! And so does everybody else. I just ended my first semester of college. It went by quick but it was challenging. The grades I have so far are, A, A- and B. I am pretty sure I got A's in my other classes I took! You were always happy to see your grandchildren be smart. I got my mother a  ornament that says your name and it glows in the light. Just to have a piece of you on the tree and during this holiday season. Liam has gotten so big and you would have loved his smile. Zack met him on Thanksgiving and it was the cutest thing to see. Godson and Godfather. Also, seeing Nick with Liam is adorable. He is just one happy baby. 
I have thought about you more this month because it is the holiday season and its the most wonderful time of the year. I always look forward to the special ornament you would get us. I think I would have gotten a graduation ornament this year or maybe a college one. Nick came up with an idea to have our secret Santa, (between my siblings), be an ornament. You will be in our thoughts when we give them to each other. I got Nick as a secret Santa and thought what you would give him. Of course a dad ornament!! That's what I got him. The rosaries my mother got made with your flowers, I got put one in my car. Its a picture of an angel looking over two children. I spoke to me as you look down on all of us.
One day we will meet again Grammie, but until then, I will continue to write, pray, and talk to you at anytime because I believe you are listening. We all miss you like crazy and nothing will be the same without you. Merry almost Christmas in heaven gram, please give Laxxie my love too. Its been almost four months since you passed. I miss you more and more everyday. I see you in everything I do. I did my first "adult" privilege and that was voting. I was going on and off about voting because I did not like the people up for president but then I thought about you and how you always said I should vote. To have a say and that is my American privilege. We unfortunately had to put Laxxie down. It was and still is very hard that she's gone but now you have a protector in heaven with you. She's very happy to see you and be with you again. Take care of her please and I know she will take care of you. Thanksgiving is coming up and we are all going to your house. Get ready to do some cooking!:) This is the first holiday without you and its going to be very tough but we have each other. We all know you are going to be there at the head of the table, smiling because theres very good food on the table and you have your husband, children, and grandchildren all together. Its been three months, crazy right? I've been in college for about four weeks now. It's nice being on my own and having to be an adult but I'm always missing home. I have my own little memorial for you on my desk. It is also some motivation for me each and every day. Knowing I have someone to make proud. I know you are looking down on me but I am still looking for a sign. But I know it will come when I need it most. 
My birthday was last week and I couldn't stop thinking about you. Everyone came over to celebrate and It was not the same without you. But I know you were singing to me in heaven, in your opera voice. I'm 18 now, woahhh! It came so quickly. You would've love to talk about everything I can do now that I'm legal! It's just starting to hit me that you will not be here for birthdays, holidays, and just everything else. But we all know you will be looking down, just like you are here. I miss you so much grammie. Thank you for everything you have done for me to become the 18 year old I am today. Thank you for my hugs, kisses, and birthday wishes in heaven. They were the best ones.

Hi Gram,

It's been almost two months since you passed. I miss you more than anything. I miss your smile, your laugh, your voice, your love, you saying "hi sweetheart", me pinching your butt and you knowing it was me right away, I miss you telling me that you bought 5 jars of olives for me and I miss spending time with you. Kris and I went to the outlets for school shopping for the first time without you, since we can picture. But we knew you were there with us, writing down both of our totals and making sure we each got equal money. I go to college in 2 weeks, scary right? But hey I always got you with me now!
You were so excited for my prom and graduation and I really hope you were able to watch both. I couldn't have graduated without you gram, without your guidance, love, care and just being there for me. I will always have one fan at all my college games now. And that is you. 
Liam is the cutest little boy ever and you would have loved him so much. I was so honored when you said you wanted him to call you "grammie". After I made that name up for you.

Dear Aunt Pat, It has been a month since you passed away.  You have been a part of my life since I was 4 years old and you were 18 years old, dating Uncle Grant.  I can't believe all that has happened - it is such a shock.  You are no longer physically with us.  You are now welcomed by so many beautiful family and friends that have passed on before you.  We miss you so much!  Enjoy your heavenly reward in the most beautiful garden you have seen.  Thank you for all your love, compassion, guidance, and support. My mother in law's warmth towards me and unwavering interest and joy in our children's lives  was something I appreciated immensely and will miss deeply.   She had an unbelievable capacity for empathy and a genuine interest in the lives of those she cared about.  She rooted for everyone.  She was tough as nails and the most dignified lady I knew.    An amazing and passionate gardener, you would be lucky to be one of her flowers and even luckier to be her daughter in law.  Dennis and I and our kids are so grateful for the last 5 years (since moving back) which were filled with happy memories.

     I am so sorry to hear the news. Pat was a class act. brilliant and funny. She will be surely missed by all. We pray for peace for all of you.

Joe and I are in total shock. We love Pat and have missed her so much since we moved to Florida. The world is missing a classy lady, full of fun. One of the most beautiful people I've ever met.  She  graced our lives with her charm and inviting personality, and lit them up with her blooms.  Pat, you will be sorely missed.  God has a gained an angel today and his garden is all the lovelier for it.

It was so nice to spend this past Christmas eve with Sue and her family. Sue invited us over to her house because my father had just passed away and we were coming back from the burial in shock with no plans, an empty house and heavy hearts. Mrs. Geelan was so warm and inviting. She was the life of the party. With her beautiful smile and warm personality she made us feel like we were always meant to be there. She always looked the same...Perfect. A truly beautiful woman. RIP Mrs. Geelan.

My heart goes out to the Geelan family. The news of Pat's passing brought back so many fun and happy memories. A bright light in all of our lives has gone out but will always shine in our collective memory of her warm and loving nature.

I will miss you Mrs G....you had style and grace....when my brother married Laura we got a whole new family and it's been an honor to share so many great family events with you....your loss will be felt everyday.

Grant,it just felt like yesterday as I beeped my horn at Pat as she was beautifying one of our corners in our Village. Her bright smile every time I greeted her was a breath of fresh air...Diane and I are so sorry for your loss my friend..condolences to you and your family.

You were truly the glue that kept our family together.  Without your generosity and love, we wouldn't still be having fun with each other after all these years.  The memory of you will live on forever in the relationships you have kept alive.  You will be sorely missed, but always remembered with love -

Dearest Pat, 
Although only related through my sister's marriage to Dennis, I immediately felt a family connection to you upon our first meeting. You always beamed with warmth and sweetness every time I saw you.  The family that you created with Grant is a amazing tribute to all that you did in your life.  I will remember fondly when you came to my house last fall with my mom and robert and sara and complimented us on our gardens. I knew this was coming from an expert.
