Rose Marie DiPasquale passed away January 18, 2015, after a lengthy illness, at the Long Island State Veterans Home. Born Rose Marie Pontecorvo on November 25, 1926 in Asbury Park, New Jersey, she was the third child of Rafaela and Antonio Pontecorvo.
Rose remained always a devoted wife to Vincent James DiPasquale, her husband of 61 years, who lived with her at the Long Island State Veterans Home. Prior to their stay at the Veterans Home, Rose and Vincent lived and raised their children in East Meadow, NY. She possessed boundless love for her son Michael DiPasquale, 60, of Northport, NY, and for her daughter Barbara DiPasquale Bryer, 58, of West Chester, PA, and their respective families. Rose is survived by her brother James Pontecorvo (wife Helen) of Pompano Beach, FL, and was predeceased by her brother Mario Pontecorvo and by her sister Mary (Pontecorvo) Vaccaro, both of Asbury Park, NJ. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Kenneth DiPasquale of Newport, RI; James DiPasquale of Brooklyn, NY; Daniel DiPasquale of Brooklyn, NY; Elizabeth Bryer of Raleigh, NC; Rebecca Bryer of Atlanta, GA; and Alexander Bryer, of West Chester, PA.
Rose will always be remembered for her personal warmth, and the love and kindness she demonstrated to all. After graduating Asbury Park High School she worked for 9 years as a telephone operator supervisor for New Jersey Bell. She loved to tell the story of how a coworker convinced her to attend a dance at Fort Monmouth where she met the handsome, blond hair blue eyed GI who went on to become her husband. She was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and role model in performing acts of kindness for others. Her faith remained an integral part of her life of 88 years.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 24th, 2015 from 2pm to 4 pm, in the 1st floor conference room, at the Long Island State Veterans Home, 100 Patriots Road Stony Brook, NY 11790. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Long Island State Veterans Home, Stony Brook, NY.
