Sheryl A. Schwier, age 82, of South Setauket, New York passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Born in Brooklyn in 1942 to Nathan Marcus and Mildred Weiland. Beloved wife of William (Bill) for 62 years. Devoted mother of Susan Grimm, Denise (Ron) Cunsolo, and Ken (Suzanne) Schwier. Loving grandmother to Bobby, Brian, and Ashley. Sherry now joins her granddaughter who predeceased her, Emily, in eternal peace.
While Sherry was a switchboard receptionist by career, she had, at one point, been a glamourous singer down at the Peppermint Lounge in Manhattan, a popular lounge of the era. Sherry is described by her loved ones as smart, witty, and sarcastic; as she always had a quip or a comeback at the ready. She spent much of her formative years as a caretaker, raising her children during their youth, caring for her grandchildren once they were born, and aiding her husband, Bill.
Together, Sherry and Bill embarked on countless adventures, creating memories that will be cherished forever. From the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska to the vibrant streets of New Orleans, and even cruising the mighty Mississippi aboard the Delta Queen, they explored the world hand in hand.
Sherry took pride in making her home comfortable and peaceful. She spent her free time keeping her mind sharp with crossword puzzles, and shows like Jeopardy, and the Wheel of Fortune. She had a knack for turning even the most mundane moments into unforgettable fun, thanks to her love for playing Mad Libs. The family spent countless hours gathered around the table, filling in the blanks and erupting into fits of laughter so intense that tears would stream down all their faces. Sherry's legacy will live on within her children and grandchildren, and she will be missed very much.
Funeral arrangements are private, but the family appreciates any condolences.
