Sutton W. Gadsby

Sutton W. Gadsby, a beloved resident of Freeport, NY, passed away on October 22, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on January 29, 1933, in Kinston, NC, Sutton lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to her family.

She is survived by her cherished children, Gina Dudley (Bernard) and Nathan Dixon. She's preceded in death by her daughter, Marchel Haynes. Sutton was a loving Nana to Jasmine White (Jykolyn), Imani Anglin (Torraine), Troy Vereen (Jennifer), Ameera Haynes, and Karim Haynes (Michelle). Her legacy continues through her adored great-grandchildren: Jeremiah White, Torraine "TJ" Anglin, Trinity Anglin, Natalia Flores-Vereen, Juliana Vereen, Nia Sheehan, Wyatt Sheehan, and Marchel Haynes.

Sutton was also a cherished aunt to Brenda Williamson and Deborah Wilkins. Known for her class and unwavering faith, she was a devoted member of Zion Cathedral Church of God in Christ, where she actively served on the Mother's Board. Her love for music was evident in her piano playing and singing, bringing joy to all who knew her.

A passionate gardener and a skilled cook, Sutton spent countless hours in the kitchen preparing delicious meals for her family, who were her greatest joy. A true artisan, she not only created memorable dishes but also adeptly handled repairs around her home.

Sutton's warm spirit, kindness, and love for her family, including her beloved shih tzu, Pipa, will be dearly missed. Her legacy of faith, love, and resilience will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A visitation for Sutton will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Zion Cathedral Church of God in Christ Church, 312 Grand Avenue, Freeport, NY 11520. Funeral service to follow the visitation at the church. Interment to follow at Greenfield Cemetery, 650 Nassau Road, Uniondale, NY 11553.
