

Albert J. Mayer, Sr., 83, of Port Lavaca, passed away October 18, 2012. He was born in Moulton to the late Paul and Angeline Michalec Mayer. Albert began his career as a farmer in the Moulton area. In 1959 he moved his family to Point Comfort where he worked for ALCOA until he retired in 1991. He was a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club and an avid fisherman.
Albert is survived by his daughters; Deborah Mayer of LaSalle, Nancy Mayer of Point Comfort, sons; William Mayer and wife Michelle of Port Lavaca, Albert Mayer, Jr. and wife Christine of Cape Carancahua; son-in-law, James Kurtz of Point Comfort, grandchildren; Eilene Mayer, Janis Mayer, Lynette Clawson, Laura Kurtz and Joshua Mayer, step-grandchildren; Lauren Becker and Drew Becker and step-great-grandchild; Hunter Schmidt.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elrine V. Boedeker Mayer, daughter; Donna Kurtz, brothers; George Mayer and Charlie Mayer, and sisters; Mary Burkett, Alice Baylor and Frances Mulvihill.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, October 22, 2012 from 5-6 PM with a Rosary to be recited at 6 PM. A funeral mass will be Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial will follow immediately at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles P. Mayer, Joshua Mayer, George Mayer, Jr., Dennis Boedeker, Jr., Donnie Boedeker and Fritz Boedeker, III.
