Beverly Jo Parker, 84, of Port Lavaca passed away at her home with family beside her on August 27, 2020. She was born to Robert and Vivian Broderick on November 21, 1935 in Crawford, Indiana. She came to Texas with her mother, Vivian, and stepfather, Charlie Deckard. She finished high school in the Dallas area before following them to Port Lavaca. She worked as a carhop, her favorite, and a waitress in most of the cafes in town from 1954 to 1978. It was while working as a carhop at the Red Barn, a drive-in located approximately where Buc-ee’s now stands. It was there that her husband saw her at work and told his friend, “I’m going to marry that girl". There were married on May 26, 1954. She finished her working years at the Busy Bee on Austin Street working for Mr. & Mrs. Barnett. She is survived by her sons, Charles Parker (Rebecca) and James Parker (Dorothy); sisters, Bobby Ayres and Betty Rich; and brothers, Richard Broderick. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Parker; son, Arthur Parker Jr.; brothers Robert (Bob) and Dennis Deckard; and mother Vivian Kuppatt, father Robert Broderick, step fathers Charlie Deckard and Willie Kuppatt. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 1-2 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens. Big Sisters - Barbara (right) and Betty (left) were always close by the baby girl of the family - Beverly. The sisters remained close throughout her life. She had three younger brothers, Robert and Richard Broderick and later in life Dennis Deckard.

She came to Port Lavaca when she was 17 years old with her mom, Vivian, and stepfather Charlie Deckard. She got a job working as a car hop at the Red Barn, which was located at the corner of Hwy 35 and 87.

It was there that she met the love of her life, Arthur Parker

He saw her working and told his friend, "See that girl, I'm going to marry her." He got a date with her and from then on she was "His Beverly."
