

Della Marie “Grandma Della” Barber, 88 of Port Lavaca passed away, February 17, 2011. She was born September 26, 1922 to the late John and Lillie Vavra Hartl. Della was a Catholic and retired from GTE as a phone operator after 28 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Ruddick of Port Lavaca; grandchildren, Kimberly Hart and husband James, Lloyd Ruddick, Jr. and wife Merce, Michael Ruddick and wife Sandra and Gary Ruddick and wife Linda; great-grandchildren, Lloyd Ruddick, III (Trace), Anthony Garcia, Ashley Wolf, Summer Ruddick, Brooke Ruddick, Brittani Hart, Jessica Ruddick and Inikki Garza and two great-great-grandchildren, River Wolf and Zaylee Herrera.
In addition to her parents, Della was preceded in death by her husband Sherwood Barber, sisters, Lillie Janik and Mary Koliba; brothers, infant Felix James Hartl, Edward Hartl, Fred Hartl, Jerry Hartl and Frank Hartl.
A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 5 to 7 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm at the Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Our Lady of The Gulf Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Ruddick, Jr., Mike Ruddick, Gary Ruddick, Anthony Garcia, James Hart and Freddie Hartl.
The family of Della Barber would like to give special thanks, to Dr. Paul Bunnell, Cherise Branch and all of the nurses and caregivers at Port Lavaca Nursing and Rehabilitation.
