Eugene Hobizal, 83, of Port Lavaca, passed away peacefully on Father’s Day at his home with his family by his side after a brief illness. Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Ed & Millie Hobizal, and brother, Fred.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 49 years, Renda, brothers Johnny (Cindy) of Victoria and Wesley (Linda) of Port Lavaca, sister-in-law Shirley Hobizal of Huffman, daughters Jo Lynn Harrison of Victoria, Lisa Charbula (Bryan) of Alvin, Dawn Andrews (Kam) of Anchorage, Alaska, Joy Holladay (Michael) of Georgetown, and Christi Holley (Chuck) of Victoria. He also had 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren whom he loved and adored.
Eugene was born on November 30, 1941 in Gonzales, Texas. He graduated from Calhoun High School in 1960. He graduated from Victoria College and also attended the University of Houston. He was a devout Catholic, a member of the OLG Catholic Church, and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
Eugene loved gardening and collecting unique items, including coins, antique radios, and jukeboxes, and was a ham radio operator and entrepreneur. He owned H&H Instruments/Electrical until retiring in 2002.
The Rosary will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with Father Tommy Chen presiding, 415 W. Austin St., Port Lavaca, Texas, with funeral services immediately following.
