G.T. "Tom" Yendrey

Gerney Thomas “Tom” Yendrey, 93, of Port Lavaca passed away March 26, 2018. He was born December 1, 1924 in Edna, Texas to Thomas John and Maude Matley Yendrey. Gerney worked in the oil field after returning from serving his country in the World War II European Campaign and then worked 31 years at ALCOA before retiring. He was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Club, VFW Post 4403 and Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.

Gerney is survived by his daughters, Patricia Nell Pustejovsky (Dennis), Teresa Gale Wood (Ricky); son, Tommy Michael Yendrey (Ann); grandchildren, Candace Brett, Stacy Hafernick, Stephanie Hawes, Jarrett Yendrey, Nicholas Yendrey, Brian Wood, Shawna Hartl, Kelli Goff and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Mae Rogers Yendrey; parents; sister, Mae Tarver; brothers, Eugene, Noyeal and Alfred Yendrey and grandson, Stephen Yendrey.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 1, 2018 from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm with a rosary to begin at 6 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, 123 Newlin St., Port Lavaca, TX. Funeral Mass will be Monday, April 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Port Lavaca, TX. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard.

Pallbearers are Brian Wood, Jarrett Yendrey, Nicholas Yendrey, Clay Brett, Gary James Hafernick, Alvin Bland, Mike Grantland, Fred Woodland and John Gonzales.

Memorial donations may be made to the Our Lady of the Gulf Church Capital Campaign or Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School.
