Born and raised in Port Lavaca, Texas she lived many years in New Gulf, Texas with her husband of 69 years Mr. Gilbert G. Sanchez; the two eventually relocated back to Port Lavaca upon his retirement.
Janie was a wonderfully devoted mother to her 6 children: Stella, Gilbert, Hector, Iris, Helen, and Xavier; a loving grandmother to her 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She had many nieces and nephews that she loved as if they were her own.
Mom was a devout Roman Catholic, who ensured her children knew God’s loved. She was strong and fierce, yet led by compassion; she cared deeply for everyone that entered into her home. We will forever be grateful for the kindness and empathy she bestowed on each of us.
She is preceded in death by her spouse: Gilbert G. Sanchez; parents: Luis and Angelita Guillen, siblings: Carlos ‘Charlie’, Enrique, Natividad ‘Nato’, and Frances (Perez).
Special thanks to her nurses and caregivers who provided invaluable care to Mom for many years.
Services will be held on Friday September 25, 2020 with a viewing at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with the rosary, mass, and burial immediately following.
