Jessie "Red" James Edwards

Jessie was born January 18, 1938 in Lake Charles, LA. He was the second of ten children born to Curlis and Mable Victoria Edwards. Jessie resided in Lake Charles until moving to Waukegan, IL where he was employed at Great Lakes Naval Base. Jessie accepted Christ at an early age in the Catholic Faith. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukegan, IL until relocating to California, and finally moving to Port Lavaca, TX where he resided until the time of his death. Jessie enjoyed baseball and was a true Chicago Cubs fan. Jessie leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory 3 brothers: Russell (Mary) Edwards of Corpus Christi, TX, Andrew (Patti) Edwards of Kenosha, WI, Michael Edwards of North Chicago, IL; 3 sisters: Bertina (Charles) Daniels, Gladys Grimes and Fannie (Kenneth) Brown all of North Chicago, IL. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jessie was preceded in death by his parents (Curlis and Mable Victoria Edwards) and brothers: Rufus, James, and Leonard Edwards. Visitation will be Friday, April 6, 2018 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with funeral services to begin at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow at the Port Lavaca Cemetery.
