Johnny Manuel Orta, 74, of Port Lavaca passed away surrounded by his family on October 12, 2018. He was born June 20, 1944 in Port Lavaca to Juan “Johnny” Orta and Mary Garza Will. He retired from King Fisher Marine Service in 2013. Johnny loved to shoot pool and play golf. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and also his truck. He took pride in his yard and his clean vehicles. Johnny’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Everyone respected Mr. Orta and you could always count on him to give anything he did his all.
He is survived by his wife (or better known as his “Queen”) of 57 years, Dora Maseda Orta; daughters, Lois Orta Galindo (Adolph), Melinda Orta Blevins (Jeff) and Teresa Orta (Thomas Darilek); siblings, Gloria Solis, Lillie Hysquierdo (Frank), Nora Ramirez, Andra Serna (Trino), Pete Orta (Linda), Manuela Lara (Dennis), Mary Jane Contreres (James), Mary Eva Ewers (Daryl), Linda Kay Ramos (Ruben) and Noe Moreno (Christy); 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray De La Santos and 1 grandchild, Valarie Hernandez.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 15, 2018 from 12-6 p.m. with a rosary and prayer service to be held from 6-9p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Frank Hysquierdo, Trino Serna, Ruben Ramos, Albert Maseda, Fernando Balboa, Alejo R. Ortiz and Edelmiro S. Castillo. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
