

Tivoli – Leo Layton Prasek, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on February 23, 2014. He was born on May 31, 1920 in Witting, TX. He married Billie Joyce Pickering on August 21, 1949. He was the son of Tom and Julia Prasek. During his 93 years of life he accomplished many things. He started in the oil field when he was in his twenties, then became a full time farmer, built and operated a successful convenient store business whom he ran with his wife, four children and daughter in law. He then decided after several trips to Colorado he would build the cabin of his dreams in the beautiful mountains of Gunnison, CO. He also during his time between a business owner, farmer and family man was elected constable for the precinct in Refugio County Texas. He had many hobbies from making wine, raising bull frogs which he really had fun doing to hunting elk, bears, and fox in the Colorado mountains. He enjoyed catching his share of trout with his wife Billie. All of his children and grandchildren also got to enjoy his Colorado dream. Leo loved his family and spending time with them every chance he could. He, his wife and children did a lot of traveling and sightseeing. He especially loved taking them to his hunting lease in Uvalde, TX and the beautiful mountains of Colorado. He always liked planning vacations for his family and loved it. He will especially be remembered as having a dry sense of humor and beautiful blue eyes!
Leo is survived by his wife Billie Joyce; son Leo Prasek, Jr. and wife Nancy; daughter Debra Lynn and husband Matt Reckling; son David Wayne Prasek and daughter Shirley Ann Haney. He also was the proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He has one sister Ann and husband Ernest Embry; brother Eugene Prasek and wife Marilyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Julia Prasek, brothers Roy, Raymond, Tommy and Carl Prasek, and grandson Christopher Ryan Reckling.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 10-11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Tivoli with the Funeral Mass to begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Tivoli Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Derrick Chavana, Jackie Hanselman, Danny Hanselman, Brian Prasek, Gabriel Prasek and Mitchell Speed.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E Locust, Victoria, TX 77901.
