Lillie Mae Shafer, 87, of Lolita went to the Lord surrounded by her family on August 15, 2018. Lillie Mae was born to the late Jim Polasek and Agnes Walton and her stepfather, Paul Gaydos on November 29, 1930 in Floresville, TX.
Lillie Mae was a loving Christian woman. She loved the Lord. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, teacher, leader, friend to all, artist, seamstress, and much more. She had a heart of gold. To know her was to love her. She never came across a stranger. Her compassion was seen in her everyday life. She was an angel here on earth and her light will forever shine down on her family and friends.
Lillie Mae is survived by her husband, R.L. Shafer of 72 years; four children, Linda Valenta (Fred), Tyann Fowler (Danny), Timothy Shafer (Karen), Lamar Shafer (Susan); grandchildren, Shelly Davis (Erskine), Stephanie Morgan (Chris), Robinell Daniels (Clint), Bobbi-Jo Biehonko (John), Derek Fowler, Adrian Post (Eric), Brianna Beck, Frances Alvarado (Joey), Dalton Shafer, Noah Shafer and Steffan Shafer; great-grandchildren, Blayke, Dylan, Quinton, Daylon, Bryce, Ryder, Hunter, Ava, Colton, Peyton, Anthony, Nathaniel, Joseph, Joshua, Conner, Austin and Evelyn; 5 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Angie Smith, Dorthy Fuselier, Frank Gaydos and Pauline Strakos.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Port Lavaca Church of Christ with funeral services to begin at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens.
Pallbearers are Dalton Shafer, Dylan Hase, Daylon, Derrek and Hunter Fowler and Steffin and Noah Shafer.
Honorary Pallbearers are her great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and brother and brothers-in-law.
In honor of Lillie Mae Shafer our family will be starting a scholarship fund for Industrial High School Seniors. In lieu of flowers, please donate to help future students and to keep Lillie Mae’s memory alive. She will forever live on in our hearts.
