Lorenzo M "Papaw" Gonzales

Lorenzo M “Papaw” Gonzales, 91, of Port O’Connor passed away January 11, 2013. He was born March 4, 1921 in San Antonio to the late Donato and Maria Lopez Gonzales. He married Olivia “Nene” Campbell Gonzales on September 3, 1943, they were married for 61 years. He worked as a Construction Superintendent for Cowdin Construction; L. Gonzales Milwork and was the Owner of a Cabinet/Furniture Company. He served in the US Army during WWII.

He is survived by his sons and daughters,Johnny Larry Gonzales of Linton, Indiana, Jerry Lee Gonzales of Pasadena, TX, Victor John Gonzales of Lake Charles, LA, Daniel Roy Gonzales of Houston, TX, Kenneth Roy Gonzales of Houston, TX, Linda Hope Hesser of the Woodlands, TX, Joane McDonough of Port O’Connor, TX, Joe and Frank Smith; siblings, Emma Reyes of Houston, Frank Gonzales of Tomball, Oscar Gonzales of Spring, Johnny Gonzales of Sugarland, Don Gonzales, Jr. of Beaumont and Rosemary Gonzales of Beaumont, 15 grandchildren, Johnny Larry Gonzales II, Kristi G. Duncan, Darryl Brown, Charles Neal Gonzales, Kimberly Davis, Tamatha Mayfield, Jessica Gonzales, Billie Daniel Gonzales, Melissa Gonzales, Angela Chaney, Monty McDonough, Crystal Johnson, Raymond Dobecka and Vicky Dobecka; 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Angel, Ramon and Oscar Gonzales as an infant.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca. Funeral Services will be Monday, January 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Fisherman’s Chapel in Port O’Connor. Interment will follow in Port O’Connor Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard.
