Mary Alice Strait, 86, of Port Lavaca passed away December 14, 2025. She was born June 21, 1939 in Chesapeake, Virginia to Claude Raymond Sykes Sr. and Bertha Minnie Lee Suit Sykes. Mary Alice was retired from HEB where she worked as a cashier.
She is survived by her daughter, Bertha Pearlene Cissie Tucker; sons, Larry Leroy Strait Sr., Ben Raymond Strait Sr. (Amely); sister, Brenda Lee Harrell; brothers, Claude Raymond Sykes Jr., Robert Edward Sykes Sr.; grandchildren, Mary Iyvonne Rueb (Jessee), Ben Raymond Strait Jr. (Liezele) and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pearly Preston Strait; parents; son, Pearly Preston Strait Jr.; sister, Rosa Mae; brother, Edward Eugene Sykes; and grandson, James Michael Strait.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 26, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Mrs. Strait will be laid to rest at Meadowbrook Memorial and Cremation Gardens in Virginia at a later date.
