Mary Alice Terrell died on March 15, 2022 in Port Lavaca, Texas after a long life with her beloved husband, Pete. They enjoyed the outdoors in earlier days, traveling and camping in New Mexico and Colorado every summer. Mother was a homemaker, talented in the domestic arts of cooking, quilting, gardening, and comfortable hospitality. She was quick to prepare cakes and casseroles for church friends and offer a comfortable guest room to travelers.
Married to Pete for 65 years, together they raised two children, Melody and Glenn. She valued education and encouraged her children to follow their paths. She went to Victoria College when they went off to school. She faithfully nursed Pete through several bouts of cancer, studying nutrition to provide the best meals for his care and recovery. She established a jelly business for a few years. An intelligent woman who came through the hard times of the depression, she freely shared her thoughts about politics, culture, and religion.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Boyce and Nancy Ficklen, her sisters, Ouida and Rita Jo, and brothers, Willie and Wayne. She is survived by her children, Melody Terrell (son-in-law, Al Duquette) and Shelby Glenn Terrell, grandchildren Erica Smith, Robin Rodriguez, Brian Martin, and Evan Strot.
The loss of Pete in 2020 changed her life forever and she never stopped asking for him. The family takes comfort knowing they are together again in God’s perfect love, healed and whole.
