Ramon O. Velez Sr.

Ramon O. Velez Sr., 93, of Port Lavaca passed away October 2, 2021. He was born December 5, 1927 in Nueva Rosita Coahuila, Mexico to Evaristo Olivares Velez Sr. and Josefina Olivares Avalos. He was retired from the City of Port Lavaca and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He is survived by his children, Sergio F. Velez (Tami), Sylvia V. Isassi (Raul Jr.), Reymond Velez Jr. (Amy), Melissa Ann Velez, Lissette V. Almanzar (Mark), and Rena Velez Gutierrez (Jonathan); sister, Aurora Olivares Velez; brother, Evaristo Olivares Velez Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Fonseca Velez; parents; and sister that passed on the same day as him, “Chita” Olivares Velez.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 8, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens.

Pallbearers are Sergio Velez, Raymond Velez Jr., Sergio Velez Jr., Keanu Andrew Velez, Devon Cole Webster, and Trinidad Ramon Menchaca. Honorary Pallbearers are Mark Almanzar, Raul Isassi, Jonathan Gutierrez, William Robert Webster Jr., Christian Almanzar, Elijah Menchaca, and Jacob Almanzar.
