Reymundo, commonly known as Mr. Villegas, Mr. V, or Grandpa, was born on January 6, 1948 to Doroteo and Martha Villegas in Brownsville, Texas. He married his beloved Mary on February 7th, 1970 in Indiana. Soon after, he began travelling around the United States as a journeyman Pipefitter before settling with his family in Port Lavaca in 1986.
Anyone who knew him knows the most important thing in his life was family, and he had a big one. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary, his son Doro and wife Sabrina, son Ronnie and wife Erin, his sister Rachel Vargas, and his brother Doroteo and his wife Terry. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rey Villegas, III, John Amador, Jr (Danielle), Rudy Villegas (Danielle), Angel Amador (Adrian), Velyncia Villegas (Jorge), Randyl Villegas (Ashlee), Doro Villegas, Jr. (Karen), Zachary Villegas, Kristian Kremling (James), McKenna Villegas, Robin Villegas, Corrine Villegas, Victoria Amador, Kylie Taylor, Gina Villegas, Gabbie Villegas, and Faith Villegas. In addition, he is survived by 17 great grandchildren, his honorary children Philip Pena, Nicole Patillo, Caitlin Clevenger, and his beloved dog Boo.
Rey is now at peace, reuniting with his son Rey Villegas, Jr., his daughter Gina Villegas, his parents, and his sisters Aurora, Delia, and Esther in Heaven.
Visitation will be Monday, May 16th from 6pm-7pm with a Memorial Service starting at 7pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 17th at 10:00am immediately followed by burial at Green Lawn Gardens Cemetery.
