

Port Lavaca – Victor Charles Knopp, 86, of Port Lavaca passed away December 26, 2013. He was born November 25, 1927 in Ganado, TX to the late Victor C. and Pearl Knudsen Knopp. He attended Texas A&M University in College Station before being drafted into the US Army. Charles was a devoted parishioner at Our Lady of the Gulf where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired in 1987 after 32 years with Union Carbide.
He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Steve) Marwitz, Janet Freidberg (David); sons, Greg (Carol) Knopp, Chuck (Anna) Knopp; step-sons, John Brown, Jim (Marie) Brown; sister, Shirlene Hill; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kirby) Martin, Jeffrey (Melanie) Brown, Stephanie (Brett) Dyer, Eric Knopp, Bryan (Ashley) Knopp, Curtis Knopp, Rebecca Knopp, Ryan Freidberg, Nick Freidberg, Michael Freidberg; step-grandchildren, Alison (Brandon) King, Sara (Rocky) Rodriguez and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Sohrt Knopp; second wife, Bettye Knopp; parents; and sisters: Vicena Green, Imogene Maxwell, Nelda Knopp and Dorothy Murray.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 27, 2013 from 6-7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Internment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Grandsons: Jeffrey Brown, Ryan, Nick and Michael Freidberg, and Bryan, Curtis and Eric Knopp.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Schools or Our Lady of the Gulf Building Fund.
