

Wilbert Albert Kovarek, 78, of Port Lavaca passed away on March 20, 2014. He was born July 17, 1935 in the Bila Hora Community in Lavaca County to the late Albin John and Agnes Janus Kovarek. He worked for Lester Contracting Inc., formerly Kinchen Construction Company as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen Albertina Sunderhuse Kovarek; children, Judy Farrow (Mark) of Houston, Karen Meyer (Douglas) of Corpus Christi, Wanda Zwerschke (David), Dwayne Kovarek and Shawn Gray (Joe) all of Port Lavaca; sisters, Dorothy May of Seadrift, Lorene Stokes (Jimmy) of Cuero, Linda Lala (Shane) of Decosta; brother, Lester Gene Kovarek (Shirley) of Ezzell; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin Kovarek; brother-in-law, Raymond May and 2 nephews.
He had multiple hobbies, but his favorite was working on small engines, from lawnmowers to any other small engine imaginable.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 24, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens.
Pallbearers are Bryant Zwerschke, Doug J. Meyer, Erik Thompson, James Hager, Marcos May and Mike Kovarek.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Pentecost, Dr. McNeill, the late Dr. Qadri, Dr. Sabbagh, Dr. Borthakur and the entire Leukemia Research Center Staff at M.D. Anderson-Houston, Tx.
