

On May 3, 1921 a bouncing baby girl was born in Jackson County to the Late Willis & Catherine (Chinn) Fox. They named her Willie Joyce. Accepting Christ at an early age she attended Wilkins School and graduated in 1942. During her early years she worked for Bill Bauer and the Blinkas. She moved on to work the Commodity Food Program as Secretary.
A few years passed and she began to work for the Calhoun County Sherriff Dept. as a dietician. She retired there and devoted her time to helping others through the Church. She was the teacher for the Sunday School Women's Class, under Waldo Williams, President of Women's Missionary Society, President of the MSBC Senior Choir and Deaconess.
She married the late Earnest D. Jones in 1947.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters: Audra Lee Fox and Mary Lee Hunter; 2 brothers: George Fox and A.D. Fox; and son, George Fox, Jr.
Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Carla Jones (M.D. Clay), God daughters, Linda Callis (L.C.), Betty Hicks (Walter), Ora Garley; grandchildren, Brad Fox (Gina), Dana Fox (Barney), Richard Garner, Sr.; 4 greatgrandchildren; host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Willie Joyce, loving mother, dedicated wife and true friend was called home on Sept. 30, 2011. She will be missed. A wake will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. J.H. Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery.
