

Amo Angeletti, 95, passed away October 22, 2014. Amo was born in Hamilton, NJ son of Antonio and Augusta Angeletti. He was raised in Bucks County, PA where he lived prior to serving in the U.S. Army. As member of the U.S. Army Signal Corp, Amo was stationed in Orlando, Florida as a MP. This was the beginning of his career in law enforcement. After he was discharged he joined the police forces in Ft Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. In 1947 he became the first Chief of Police in Hillsboro Beach, Florida. He also was instrumental with helping to incorporate the town and is credited for catching the infamous “Pants Burglar”. He was a true pioneer and is mentioned in the town’s historical register. He retired in 1956 and began a new career as an electrician which spanned more than 20 years. He had worked as a lineman in Pennsylvania prior to his military duty. He was a member of Local 728, NBEW, working in Florida and PA. He later joined the DuPont Corporation, which was the beginning of his new career as an electrical designer. He worked as a designer until he retired from Broward County Public Schools, after 20 years, in 1993. A quiet man, Amo enjoyed fishing, flying and tinkering in his workshop. He owned several planes to include a Piper Cub and Cessna 172. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Allen, Anthony and Dan all of Port Orange; sisters, Alma and Annela; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother and three sisters. Friends may call Monday 1-2 p.m. at Volusia Memorial FH 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd. Port Orange.
