

Cheryl was born July 9, 1962, in Syracuse, New York. Cheryl lived for years in Washingtonville, New York and performed many high school plays at Washingtonville Central High School. Cheryl spent many summers visiting her paternal grandparents in Adams, New York, and her maternal grandparents in Millers Mills, NY. Cheryl attended Marist College, now called Marist University, in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Social Work. At Marist, Cheryl met her future husband Peter Fredsall. Following Marist, Cheryl earned a Master's degree of Social Work at Rutgers University. Cheryl began her career in nursing home administration at Oceanside Care Center on Long Island while living with her husband in Freeport, New York. In Freeport, they enjoyed many summer days on the boat, at the beach, and at many outdoor concerts.
In 1991 Cheryl and her husband moved to the Daytona Beach area where Cheryl served for many years as the administrator of University Center East in Deland. Cheryl lived for 35 years in Port Orange and South Daytona.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Peter, her son Arthur, her daughter Robin, her mother Marjorie Bowering, her brother Jamie Bowering of Skokie, Illinois, as well as her faithful companions, Toby the dog and Luna the cat.
A Celebration of Life/Wake will be held at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32129, on May 13, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Catholic Church of the Epiphany, 201 Lafayette St, Port Orange, FL 32127, on May 14, 2026, at 10 am with a reception in the hall after. Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ghana children's education fund at the Ascension Church in Melbourne, FL, notating on the check Ghana Children's Relief Fund in Honor of Cheryl.
