David Warren Solana, 89, died May 24, 2023, in Pennsylvania after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. David was born in San Mateo, Florida, and moved to Port Orange at the age of two. He resided there until 2017 when he moved to Pennsylvania with his wife, Marion. David was with the Port Orange Police Department for 21-1/2 years, retiring as Chief of Police in 1986.
David enjoyed bluegrass music, travelling in his motor home and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Marion; two sisters, Martha Foster and Janet Rawlins (Carl); four children, Robert Solana (Michele), Ralph (Buddy) Solana, Lori Wilson and Teena Solana; two step-daughters, Lorraine Zeller-Agostino (Christopher) and Virginia (Ginny) Quinn (S. Clifford); eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held from 11 am to 1 pm Wednesday, May 31, at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL 32129.
