

GENEVA PHILLIPS SHAW, died peacefully in her home September 7, 2018, in Port Orange, FL at the age of 91.Geneva is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 70 years, Howard L. Shaw; sons: William E. (Sharon), John H. (Teri); grandchildren: Don Pickens (Jennifer), Jayson Shaw (Christina), James Pickens (Robyn), Ian Shaw, Haley Shaw, Samuel Shaw, Sondra Shaw, Sara Shaw - all of Port Orange, FL and Angela Bhandari (Pradeep) of Sunbury, OH; great-grandchildren: Eden, Arlo, Eli, Jacob, Katie Mae, Leslie, Hannah, and Ansley;brothers, Roger Phillips, Sr. of Newark, OH, Ronald Phillips (Janet) of Pataskala, OH; and many nieces and nephews. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Ora Arthur and Liddie Jane Cartt Phillips, a daughter and son in law, Sondra June and Dan Pickens, brother and sister in law Charles and Phyllis Phillips, as well as sister and brother in law, Clara and Bill Holbrook. Born on February 15, 1927 in Columbus, OH, Geneva graduated from Cardington High School in Ohio. She and Howard married in 1948 and over a period of time the couple had 3 children. In 1972, the couple moved to the Daytona Beach area to open up American Motorcycle Institute. Being a wife, mother and grandmother was her passion. She will be remembered for her love, kindness and her contagious smile. A longtime member of Port Orange Presbyterian Church, Geneva faithfully served in all areas – including a ministry dear to her heart - supplying the Food Pantry.A Memorial Service celebrating Geneva’s life will be held 11 am Friday, September 14, 2018 at Port Orange Presbyterian Church, 4662 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange.In lieu of flowers, please consider bringing nonperishable food items as Geneva would have done on a weekly basis. Monetary donations in memory of Geneva can be made to Port Orange Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.
