Hector Garcia, 89, revered patriarch and leader of his family, entered into his final reward the morning of June 7, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones at his home. Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on August 28, 1930, Hector was one of nine children born to Ramon Garcia Rodriguez and Otilia Anasagasty Castro. Although he was a middle child, all of his siblings looked to Hector for guidance and support. Immigrating to the United States at the age of 18, Hector worked in the textile industry for over 40 years, including more than 20 years at Kalkstein Silk Mills, Inc. in Paterson, NJ where he retired as a shipping and receiving manager. In 1955 he met Brusenilda Periera and they were married on September 9, 1955. They had three children: Hector Ramon Garcia, Philip Anthony Garcia and Melisa Lyn Garcia. They raised their children in Paterson, New Jersey. After retiring in 1992, he returned home to Puerto Rico for a short time to take care of his ailing mother, returning to the United States after her passing in 1995. Hector and his wife, Brusenilda (better known as Linda) then moved to Deltona, Florida in 1995.
Hector was a great father, great husband, and caring grandfather. He instilled the importance of family and valuing one another to his children, but also to his 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. After his retirement, he could often be found working out in the yard, fixing something at his house, or working on some type of project until his health began to fail him this past year. Predeceased by several siblings, Hector leaves behind his sister Milagros Rivera, brother German Garcia and sister Aida Medina in addition to his wife of 65 years Brusenilda and the rest of his family.
A Memorial Service honoring Hector’s life will be held on June 28, 2020 at Iglesia Cristiana Renacer, 3045 Mallard Drive, Deltona, Florida 32738 from 2pm - 4pm.
