He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marty Pierson of Florida, niece Dana Jarvis of Florida and nephew Fred Hoover of Kentucky. He is also survived by his 5-year-old labrador, Trooper.
Jim was a very proud Veteran. He served in the US Navy January 1970 through January 1974 as a Communications Technician. He was a Senior Systems Analyst and Manager of Information Technology at Mead School and Office Products in Dayton, Ohio, for 25 years. He had broad technical knowledge and business systems experience.
For over 20 years Jim was an avid Harley Davidson rider and rode throughout the US to many states. After the Harley life, he switched to a Jeep and enjoyed time driving on the beach and volunteering at Jeep events. After moving to Florida in 2015, he immediately started volunteering at The Marine Science Center and Volusia Turtle Patrol. His heart was made for volunteering and giving back to others.
He and Marty truly lived a fun-filled life, and his legacy will live on forever.
Jim will be interred at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of The Marine Science Center, 100 Lighthouse Dr, Ponce Inlet, FL 32127.
