Predeceased by her husband, August Dandorf, married 49 years. Augie died April 4, 2002.
Companion (13 years) of Ray Koppmann of Port Orange, FL. Ray died January 21, 2018.
Children: Cynthia LaMura (John), New Smyrna Beach, and Scott Dandorf (Rita), Scottsdales, AZ.
Grandchildren: Melissa Ditchek (Mike), Port Orange, FL, Scott Dandorf Jr, Burbank, CA, Stewart Dandorf (Julie), Bend, OR, and Samantha Hale (Brandon), Elk Grove, CA.
Great-grandchildren: Ava Ditchek, Port Orange, FL, Grant, Connor, and Audrey Jean Hale, Elk Grove, CA.
Brothers: Kenneth Detrick (deceased), and Jack Detrick (deceased).
Sisters: Gail Oswald (deceased), Barbara Gerard, Greenville, SC, and Toni Detrick, Palm City, FL.
Jean had lived in Brooklyn, NY, and in Florida.
Retired from the School Board of Broward County, FL, with 24 years of service. She was the office manager at high schools and middle schools in Hollywood, Hallandale, and Miramar, FL.
Graduated from Cliffside Park High School, Cliffside Park, NJ. Attended Drakes Secretarial and Miami-Dade College and many courses in various forms of art.
Enjoyed her family and lived life to the fullest. Traveled worldwide with Ray. Enjoyed ballroom dancing, painting, cards and socializing with great friends.
Accomplished artist specializing in watercolors in later years. Former member of LA Fitness and YMCA in Port Orange, National Association of Railroad Retirees (charter member and officer for 5 years). Former member of Palmetto Club of Daytona Beach. Member of the Eagles Auxiliary 4469, Daytona Beach Shores. Member of P.O.R.T. (Port Orange Recreational Travel) for many years, traveling worldwide with Ray and friends. Passion for gardening life long, especially proud of the most gorgeous varieties of orchids while living in South Florida.
Long-standing member of Ponce Inlet Art Guild, holding offices and participating in many of their art shows, receiving numerous awards.
Since moving to beachside, exercised at Shores Community Center and took an active role in the Social Committee at the Oceans Grand.
Always boasted that she had two wonderful men in her life...Augie and Ray! They each enhanced her life to the fullest.
She raised two children who had successful careers and she was very proud of her four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her loving daughter, Cindy, was her pride and joy. Roles changed later in life...John and Cindy constantly saw to it that she was happy and able to remain independent.
