

Joseph Wally Gattinella, Springfield, PA and Daytona Beach Shores, FL passed away in Volusia Hospice on 3/12/15. He was born in Smith Mills, PA on 4/12/1921. He attended Drexel University and was employed by Sunoco Co as a mechanical/cost Engineer for 25 yrs. He served in WWII as a non-commissioned Officer in the Navy. In Springfield, he served in many community organizations: as a School Board Director for 12 years and 13 years as a Trustee on the Delaware County Community College. In Florida, he served as Countryside Homeowners President for 6 years and Vice President of Daytona Beach Republican Club. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Hope Church and belonged to their Cursillo. He was a member of the Lads & Lassies Ballroom Dance Club for almost 15 years serving as the treasurer for most of the time. He was a member of the American Legion for 52 years. He left Springfield, PA in 1995 to retire in Port Orange with his wife Jean, who pre-deceased him in 2001 ending their special marriage of 56 Years; he found love for the second time and married Betsy Neerland, who lost her husband 2 months prior to Jean’s death. He is preceeded in death by four sisters: Ann, Jenny, Mary and Grace and survived by a younger brother, Jim. In addition to his wfe of 11 years, he leaves: daughters, Judy Gallo, (Paul)[Peter(Amy)[Jacob, Alex ,Blake, Ella] Steve(Ruthie),[ Elisha, Jonas, Micha, Bella] Matt (Nancy) [Gianna,Emma, Vinnie} all in CA. Anita Conlon (Bob) [Patrick, Christopher,Genevieve, Pittsford, NY; sons:Wayne (Valerie) [ Kylie, TT, Christopher, Alex} Greenich, Ct.; Roy (Johnna) [Spencer (Tianna), and Tressa} Santa Rosa and SanDiego, CA . The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday March 17, 2015 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 8:30 a.m. ,Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 4675 S. Clyde Morris Blvd. Port Orange .
