Joseph Pettit

Pettit, Joseph Edward “Joe” Joseph Edward “Joe” Pettit, 64 of Lilburn, Georgia died Wednesday afternoon on April 20, 2011 after a three year battle with cancer. He was a native of Florida and a resident of Port Orange, Florida for many years. He was an executive with Winn Dixie for twenty five years and worked in many areas of the food industry until becoming a Realtor after moving to Georgia. He was faithful in the practice of his Catholic faith through out his life. He is preceded in death by his mother Isabel Pettit and his father Herman Pettit. He is survived by his loving wife Peggy and three grown children, Joseph, Jr. of Eugene, Oregon, Deanna Lynn “DeeDee” of Ormond Beach, Stephen of Los Angeles, California and his brothers Deacon Michael S. Pettit (Frances) of Port Orange, Fl., Samuel Pettit (Joni) of Douglasville, Georgia, and sisters Kathy Jonas and Barbara, two grandsons, Miles and Julian and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 Clyde Morris Ave, Port Orange followed by a vigil service with his brother Deacon Michael Petit presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
